Thermography is not a replacement for mammograms or recommended medical care.
WHAT IS THERMOGRAPHY?
Thermography uses an infrared camera to record temperature patterns on the surface of the body. Those patterns are displayed as color images called thermograms.
The imaging process involves no compression or ionizing radiation. A thermal image does not show the internal structures seen in a mammogram, and temperature differences alone do not establish a diagnosis.
WHAT TO EXPECT

The supplied appointment estimates are approximately 15 minutes for a single-region study, such as breast imaging, and 45 minutes for a full-body imaging session. Confirm the total time to allow and any preparation instructions when scheduling.
Images are reviewed by a board-certified physician trained in thermology. Your results are sent electronically with color images and a written report you can share with your healthcare provider.

Continue the screening and follow-up your healthcare provider recommends. If you notice a new lump or another concerning change, seek medical evaluation rather than waiting for a thermography appointment. A normal thermogram does not rule out breast cancer.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
You can apply for a grant of up to $200 toward a thermography scan through the United Breast Cancer Foundation’s Breast Screening assistance program. Sherry’s website explains how the grant works, and you can apply and schedule your session there. Approval is required before the screening, and assistance is provided through reimbursement. Review the current guidelines and eligibility process before arranging your appointment.
